THE ARTIST

Robert Cooper is an established ceramicist who has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. He is fascinated by the persistence of artefacts and ideas. He often uses found objects, such as pottery shards from the Thames foreshore, which are imbued with a previous life and function, as a starting point for his work. He has, for many years, employed recycling as a mode of working. Different elements such as clays, oxides and glazes left over from teaching sessions, discontinued ceramic transfers, printed imagery from popular culture and even pieces of previous work are recombined to create new narratives with multiple meanings. 

L'ARTISTA

Robert Cooper è un ceramista consolidato che ha esposto ampiamente nel Regno Unito e nel mondo. È affascinato dalla persistenza di manufatti e idee. Spesso utilizza oggetti trovati, come i frammenti di terracotta provenienti dalle rive del Tamigi, imbevuti di una vita e di una funzione precedenti, come punto di partenza per il suo lavoro. Ha impiegato per molti anni il riciclo come modalità di lavoro. Elementi diversi come argille, ossidi e smalti lasciati dalle sessioni di insegnamento, trasferimenti ceramici interrotti, immagini stampate dalla cultura popolare e anche pezzi di lavoro precedente sono ricombinati per creare nuove narrazioni con più significati. 

THE WORKSHOP

In the workshop Robert Cooper will take us through the process of making his unique vessels. The artist will show diverse techniques for decorating and assembling ceramic art objects. Key arguments will be surfaces, textures and layers as well as the meaning of the final objects. At the end of the workshop each participant will have the opportunity to create hos own piece of art. 

The workshop will be held in English with translation into Italian. 

IL WORKSHOP

Durante il workshop di Robert Cooper, l’artista inglese ci accompagnerà nel processo di produzione dei suoi lavori. Attraverso molteplici tecniche di decorazione, verranno realizzati differenti oggetti in ceramica. Gli argomenti chiave saranno la superficie, il colore, le texture, le stratificazioni di materiali e le loro possibili combinazioni, ma anche il significato degli oggetti finali.

Lo scopo del workshop è sperimentare attraverso tutte queste tecniche, creando il proprio pezzo d’arte.

Il workshop si svolgerà in inglese con traduzione in italiano.
